WELCOME TO

BAPA’S MEALS

The core aim of Bapa’s Meals is to feed the poorest children in the poorest families so that families have less pressure allowing them to send their children to school instead of keeping them at home or to work therefore creating a better future for the children which can assist the whole family by lifting them out of poverty and become self-sustainable in the long term.

So what are we doing and what help are we looking for?

We have 2 projects that we have been supporting in a small way over the last 18 to 20 months

  • Project 1: in Malawi help with Breakfast club
Help feed 1 child a healthy breakfast for 50p a day
  • Project 2: Feed a 1 child in and around the slums of Mumbai India for 50p a day

CURRENT PROJECTS

Name of organisation – Serving Humanity
Location – Mumbai India
The person running the project – John

Serving food to underprivileged children living in and around the slums

Charitable work runs in Johns family for many years this project he started approximately 20 months ago and it is run by a group of volunteers and currently in the process of applying for charity status. John and his team have been working tirelessley through the pandemic risking their own well being to get essential food items to poor children living in the streets and slumbs of Mumbai.

John works with passion and has a vision for the long term which aligns with the cause/s that ‘Bapa’s Meals’ was set up for.
(I have supported this project in a small way from personal money over the 20 months or so)

Name of Organisation – Kingdom Cause Community (uk charity reg no.1136475)
Location of project – Malawi (outskirts of Lilongwe)
The person running the project – Rob Joy and his wife Lydia

Serving food to disadvantaged children

Both Christians involved in the Church for many years.
Rob is originally from Letchworth and has had a very difficult but inspiring life journey to date himself to get to where he is today.
He took the massive step of moving from the comfort of the UK with a you family to Malawi a few years and took up this huge challenge that he pursues each day with such great passion and determination.
I met Rob a few years through his building work and his charity shop in Luton.
Rob works with passion and has a vision for the long term which aligns with the cause/s that ‘Bapa’s Meals’ was set up for.

Child poverty facts as provided by Unicef the children’s charity arm of the United Nations:

1 billion children worldwide are multi-dimensionally poor – without access to education, health, housing, nutrition, sanitation or water
356 million children are living in extreme poverty, forced to survive on less than $1.90 a day
Children are more than twice as likely to live in poverty than adults
Children from the poorest households die at twice the rate of their better-off peers

This research tells that it is children that are the most disadvantaged when it comes to poverty and many organisations working alongside governments around the world are helping to reduce child poverty and its causes which is heartening.

Can child poverty be eradicated?

At Bapa’s Meals, we believe it can be but it needs to be a joint effort so resources are pooled to maximise efficiency, Bapa’s meals is the new kid on the block just starting out in this hugely complex and competitive sector all trying to compete for funding for a worthy cause.

At Bapa’s Meals, we believe that food is the most basic human requirement without which life is a massive struggle and worry when it becomes the primary effort of a person’s daily life it prevents normal progress of life as we know it therefore always remains in poverty and this is not fair.

Feeding a hungry Child how does this help?

By providing a regular meal for the poorest children often prevents parents from sending their kids to school as often it’s a choice between food, school, or sending a child to work.
In the long term children that are able to attend school if the meal is already taken care of tend to perform better at school leading to a brighter future that can pull the whole family out of poverty to become self-sustainable.

Join us on this journey to make a difference from as little as 50 p a day to feed one hungry child depending on the location.
At the moment we are small and aim to absorb as much of the running costs of this Bpa’s meals from personal funds and forward 100% of funds raised to the projects we aim to raise funds for until we reach a point where this is becoming difficult to maintain.

Current projects highlighted are projects that we have been supporting over the last 2 years or so in a small way from personal funds however the aim of Bapa’s meals is to be able to raise awareness and assist these projects funds raised to further develop their causes.

Please read more about the projects in the causes section and if you would like to message or call me to discuss more about these projects then I would be very happy to speak with you.

Emergencies:

In the short term when emergencies arise in various parts of the world unexpectedly we want to be there to do what we can in their hour of need.

For example recently the Oxygen crisis in India where myself and my wife did a Charity Climb of Mount Snowdon in North Wales in June 2021 to raise awareness and money for Oxygen Generators on Behalf of the British Asia Trust founded by Prince Charles that deliver quality development programmes in Southeast Asia.
